Jeral Benjamin is recognized for producing distinctive recordings of varied genres, from jazz to classical as well as world music and adult alternative styles. Known for her broad production background, strong musical direction and wide-ranging knowledge of the music industry, Jeral has assembled a long and diverse discography. Critics in publications from Jazz Times and Fanfare Magazine to M Music and Musicians, Magnet Magazine, The Big Takeover, Alarm Magazine, Sentimentalist, The Ectophiles' Guide, Skope Magazine and Independent Claues have praised her recordings.

Whether working with established professionals or developing and introducing new talent, the artists with whom Jeral has worked in recordings and concerts indicates her varied musical interests. They are Betty Buckley, Herbie Mann, Clark Terry, John Pizzarelli, Bucky Pizzarelli, David Chesky, Bob Minzter, Billy Drewes and Indie artists Rat Wakes Red and Kim'sMyth.

From the world of Latin and Brazilian music, some of the artists are Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Bonfá, Paquito D'Rivera, Claudio Roditi, Ana Caram, Leandro Braga, Adriana Rios, Giovanni Hidalgo, Cyro Baptista, Ignacio Berroa, Rumero Lubambo and Alejandro Santos, the great reed player from Argentina. Jeral also produced Hee Eun Yang, Korea's greatest popular singer, in recording and concert.

In the area of classical, Jeral has worked with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Gunther Schuller, the Portland String Quartet…and she produced reissues of the classical repertoire from the RCA/Reader's Digest vault.

After having worked as an A & R executive, staff producer and managing director for record companies, Jeral established Jeral Benjamin Productions in 1991. Her Indie label, Rat Disk, was launched in 1998 and the following year Rat Wakes Red's debut CD Dizzy on Daddy was released. Dizzy on Daddy along with 2010 release Acres, as well as Horizon Drops, Energy Garage ep/dvd and Weekend EP have aired on hundreds of radio stations in the U.S. and Canada and charted CMJ and AAA Top 30.

Apart from Jeral's studio projects, she has worked with prestigious venues to develop programming and present artists, including The Town Hall in NYC, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, OK Mozart International Festival and the Blue Note in Osaka and NYC. Other clubs where she has promoted artists and has performed herself are Mercury Lounge, Brownie's, CBGB's Gallery, Arlene Grocery, The Bitter End, etc.

Jeral Benjamin has worked at the former BMG/RCA Studios, Loho Studios, Dubway Studios, Skyline Studios, Sear Sound, Sound on Sound Recording, East Hill Studios, A & R, Axis Studios, Bomb Shelter Recording, Dryhill Studios and DB Plus . Her recordings, distributed worldwide, have been released by Arabesque Recordings, Chesky Records, Invasion Records, King Records and Nippon Phonogram (Philips).

As violinist, violist and conductor, Jeral has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles. She studied at the Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, the Tanglewood Music Center and the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors and received a Bachelor of Music in Viola and a Master of Music in Conducting.
